About Our Organization

Change Corps started out as the Obama Volunteer Corps.  We are a grassroots organization centered in Houston, Texas that began with a group of volunteers inspired by the historical Presidental campaign of Senator Barack Obama.   Our organization is devoted to making President-Elect Obama's message of change a reality by serving our communities through public service and activism.   We are committed to showing that words do have meaning, words inspire people to take action.  Our group is ready to work to improve the communities we live in and spread the message of hope and change.    We have already begun working with other volunteer organizations around the nation, from Pennsylvania to Virginia, to North Carolina and beyond.  We are determined to prove to people that there is such a thing as a new kind of politics.

President-Elect Obama started his career as a community organizer and it is a testament to his work that so many people are willing to devote their time and effort to helping create change from the bottom-up. 

 

We will continue recruiting volunteers nationwide and organizing civic projects. 

 

It is our hope that we can promote real change in our communities by empowering Americans to step-up and take part in their neighborhoods to improve this country one city-block at a time.  Change comes in small steps, but together we can build-up ourselves, we can build-up our communities and we can build-up our country.
