Military Care Package Results

CONGRATULATIONS HOUSTON CORPS!

Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers our military care package drive was a great success! It was so refreshing to see some new faces show up to help out with the care package assembly as well as seeing people coming in with donations for our brave men and women overseas.

In addition we also all took the time to write letters of appreciation to the troops and words of encouragement about the brave jobs they're doing to ensure the freedom of Americans all over the world.

We were also extremely fortunate to receive local media coverage for the event!

A reporter from ABC13 was there first hand to watch our volunteers sorting through the donations as well as packing up the first care packages and the CW39 also sent a news crew to cover the event.

It was great to see Obama volunteers pushing for change and supporting our troops even though we stand against the war while seeing Republicans and John McCain just talking and not taking any action to truly support our soldiers. Great job everyone.

Here are some facts about the donations we assembled.

We were able to assemble 30 care packages at our drive for a total of 694 individual items distributed throughout. These care packages will be divided up between military units serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. All of the soldiers who receive our care packages are serving in units that originated here in Texas.

Once again it's amazing to see what we can do when we come together with a common purpose and I'm always left speechless by the generosity and encouragement from all of our volunteers and the people we meet during our projects.

Thanks to everyone who donated items, donated their time or took a moment to write a "Thank You" card to our troops. Your generous spirit and thirst for change will travel across this planet to our fighting forces and I know they will appreciate every shred of effort you put into this project.
