There are many terrific organizations in the Houston-area that are constantly working to make positive change for a broad range of communities. This month we highlight Neighborhood Centers Inc.
Founded more than 100 years ago by a school teacher named Alice Graham Baker, Neighborhood Centers has existed in many variations, but the organization's overall mission has never changed. Today they have a network of 59 service sites whose mission is to bring resources, education and connection to underserved neighborhoods.
They carry out this task through a series of core values:

One the great things about Neighborhood Centers Inc is that they aren't a service organization that simply hands out assistance whenever and wherever, but they're engaging members of the communities they work in and keeping them involved in the process of improving their neighborhoods through interaction.
