Olivewood Cemetary's Historic Marker Dedication Ceremony           

On Saturday April 4, 2009 the Descendants of Olivewood held a ceremony at Olivewood Cemetary to celebrate the dedication of the cemetary's Texas Historic Cemetary Marker. Guests included Mayor Bill White, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Houston City Controller and Mayoral candidate Annise Parker. Margott Williams and Charles Cooper from the Descendants of Olivewood, then offered a tour of the cemetary to attendees to discuss the rich history of Olivewood. With so much progress made in recent years and after Hurricane Ike, Olivewood is in much better condition today than it once was, but more work remains. You can see in some of the photos in this album that there is still much work to be done.
